Education System in France
By law in "La loi d'orientation sur l'Education No. 89-486 dated July 10, 1989 "education affairs occupy the first in the French national priorities. Education is a right and obligation as well as for children between ages six to 16 years so that all costs is the sole responsibility of government.
Dati II and District Local Government is given the authority and responsibilities of primary and secondary level education with kindergarten and elementary school details into district and municipal authorities, school (Collège) and Senior High School (Lycées) authority Dati II and the university or high school under the authority of provincial.

General, the core curriculum, supply teachers / lecturers and the authority of the central government payroll.
The children get basic education pre-school at the age of two to six years, Elementary School between seven to 10 years and junior high school (Collège) -  Senior High School  (Lycées) between 11 and 18 years, while higher education for those aged over 19 years.
French higher education is divided into two categories: Colleges and Universities (Grandes Ecole) which have different characteristics. Universities under the Ministry of Youth, National Education and Research Grandes Ecole while under the Ministry of Technical corresponding fields are handled. University education in general theoretical and technical nature while the Grandes Ecoles.
If we read a book called France published by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministère des Affaires Etrangeres), mentioned that in France there are more than 20 million students and students who study in 2004-2005. This amount is quite amazing because it is a quarter of the population of France, which is about 80 million.
In 2004 no less 70 billion dollars (U.S.) has been budgeted for education. This amounts to 23 percent of the total annual budget of the French Government, a number of the largest education budget in the world. The education system in France is also provide data as the number of domestic workers working in the field of education is quite large, which is about 1.7 million employees with the overall status of civil servants working in the field of education.
About earning a teacher in France, for we are certainly very remarkable. A senior teacher in a position, for example, he earned a monthly income of about 40000-50000 euros (about USD 50 million to Rp 60 million per month). Compare the salaries of teachers in Indonesia are "only" about $ 2 million (Data Year 2005). To become teachers, including teachers, it is not easy because he will be the backbone of the nation in ensuring the quality of education. If he accepted to become a teacher, his salary per month of the lowest is about 25,000 euros, or about USD 30 million, plus a variety of other supporting facilities, all readily available, homes, vehicles, the necessities of life, health insurance, annuity, all have borne by the government. So that a teacher is really concentrating in teaching and educating the children, and devoted all his energy and his mind to it. Therefore, for the appointment of a teacher, including teachers, held a very stringent selection and acceptance tested.
Teachers in France is one of three groups of professionals who have the highest welfare of the government, the first is the law enforcement agencies (Justice, Attorney / Lawyer), which both are public servants (servant of society: doctors, government people, etc. ).
Education in France is generally borne by the government, under the coordination of the Ministry of National Education (Ministère de l'Educatioan National). France considers that the "school" is important for the French nation. One of the main goals of education is the cultivation of a sense of national unity. For that, they provide equal and equitable education for all levels of society.
In general, any child at the age of six years has entered the world of education through primary school (ecole primaire). Formal education is usually preceded by ecole matternlle (educational preschool, kindergarten). In this kindergarten a child from age two years was able to put in the playground (a kind of play group).

I had the opportunity to direct teaching and learning activities in France when I follow Traening for more than a month in France (in 2005). I obtained the information from one of the Indonesian students in France who are married and have two children aged two and four years, put her two children in kindergarten starting at 09.00 (am) to 17:00 (afternoon). This system is adopted because the employees in France are generally worked from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., with a note
Saturday and Sunday off. During the child was in the school (9:00 to 17:00) they are entirely under the care and guidance of teachers. Between the hours of learning that they (the children) were given lunch, and also sometimes there are events nap.
So, the parents give their children when going to work and pick him up again when I go home. In essence, the entire learning process is provided for free by the government.
French government to ensure that the school began kindergarten through college is free.
Of course for every level of education to enter the selection entrance examinations were held, from the basic education level (ecole primaire) secondary education (lysee) through college (universitarire).

Based on the results of direct observation in France, French education system from the beginning been able to detect the child's talents and abilities, and was able to determine the appropriate subject of interest since early childhood. So not all kids are competing to become an engineer or engineering majors. Students are also not required to master all subjects, but only enough basic course, the new fields that fit their talents and abilities of students studied in greater depth, making it more focused.
Especially interested in continuing the Grande Ecole, must pass a test which is really tight to get into. No new entry, running into the regular university.
